Upgrading to PC Backup v. 8 from v. 7.5

Customers with version 7.5 of BT PC Backup can now benefit from an automatic upgrade to version 8, provided they have a compatible operating system. For further information, please see Upgrading to PC Backup.

If you are identified as fulfilling the criteria for an upgrade, an email is sent from BT to the email address you originally registered for PC Backup. In the email you are advised that rollout of version 8 is to start soon. A link to an installation file will be provided after you complete your next backup.

To install PC Backup version 8:

1. Download and run the installation file as instructed in the upgrade email.
   
   During the upgrade process, the following BT PC Backup Installer dialog is displayed:
   
   
   
   When installation is complete, the Welcome to Version 8.0 dialog is displayed:
   
   
   
   There are now four buttons available:
   
   
   • Log on Now
     Opens the BT PC Account Management website in a new browser window.
   • Start Agent
     Opens PC Backup v. 8.
   • Close
     Closes the Welcome to Version 8.0 dialog.
     
     Note:
     
     Ensure that you edit the backup rules before the next backup as these are not transferred during the upgrade process. For further information, please see Editing backup rules in PC Backup v. 8.
   • Help
     
     Displays the online help.
2. Click on the Log on Now button to display the Logon page:
   
   
3. Enter your email address and password and click on the Log On button to display the Summary page:
