This will depend on which NTE you have.

The images and tables below, will help you identify your NTE, the lights you could expect and their meanings.

There are also some suggestions to help fix any problems you might have. Please try these before reporting a fault, as we may raise charges if we visit your premises and the fault is with your terminal equipment or on-site wiring, rather than in your MegaStream Ethernet service.

You may see the following lights:

Name Light Meaning
Speed Green 100Mbit/s operation.
Yellow 10Mbit/s operation.
No light No power to the card. Check your power supply to the NTE.
Link Green There is a good copper link connection.
No light There may be a problem with the local customer interface connections. To fix this, seeI have no Link/Data light on my NTE. What should I do?
Data Green Active data is being received on the customer interface.
No light There may be a problem with the local customer interface cables. To fix this, see I have no Link/Data light on my NTE. What should I do?
Rem F Red There is a fault in the optical fibre path in the BT network. To fix this, see I have a red Rem F light on my NTE. What should I do?
No light There are no faults in the optical fibre path in the BT network.
Alarm Red There is a fault in the fibre path from the BT network. To fix this, see I have a red Alarm light on my NTE. What should I do?
No light There are no faults in the fibre path in the BT network.


If you have an NTE that looks like this:

You may see the following lights:

Name Light Meaning
Speed Amber 100Mbit/s operation.

Note:

When the light is off, There is 10Mbit/s operation.
No light There is no power to the card. Check the power supply to your NTE
Link/Data Green There is a good copper link connection.
Green and flashing Active data is being received on the customer interface.
No light There is no link present. To fix this, see I have no Link/Data light on my NTE. What should I do?
Test Amber, amber and flashing If on or flashing, a test pattern or loop back is present. Wait until the light goes out before transmitting data.
No light There is no test pattern or loop back is present and you can transmit data.
Power Green A power supply is present.
No light There is no power supply present. Check the power supply to your NTE.
Net Red If the Net light on your NTE is red, there's a fault with the optical link between your NTE and the exchange. You will need to report the problem to your Service Management Centre.
No light There are no faults with the optical link between your NTE and the exchange.
Cust No light This light is not used.


This product has now been replaced with Short Haul Data Services (SHDS).
