What is the difference between BlackBerry Redirector and the BlackBerry Exchange Server?
BlackBerry Redirector is only available on Microsoft Exchange and does not need a BlackBerry Exchange Server (BES) installed. The BlackBerry software on the user’s desktop replicates the function of the BES for redirecting email to the user’s handheld device. However, for redirection to work the desktop must have a connection to the Internet, so needs to be left switched on 24/7. As there is no BES server, the user has limited functionality, for example, over the air calendar and attachment openers are not available.
