How do I set up my BlackBerry?

Most of our SIM cards are dispatched activated and you should see signal bars on your device.  If your SIM isn't activated it will show no network coverage, SOS calls only or an error message and you will need to contact us.

How to register your handset with BlackBerry:

  1. Either select the Options icon (small spanner) or press the Menu button and select Options from the list.
  2. Select Advanced Options.
  3. Select Host Routing Table.
  4. Press the Menu button.
  5. Select Register Now. A registration message sent message is displayed.
  6. Turn the handset off.
  7. Remove and replace the battery.
  8. Switch the handset back on.
  9. Check that you have GPRS in capitals in the top right hand corner of the screen.

How to set your handset with default Internet browsers:

  1. Select the Manage Connections icon.
  2. Ensure that only Internet Browser is turned on. Turn any other options off by highlighting them and clicking on them to remove the tick.
  3. Select Options > Advanced Options > Browser.
  4. The first two default browsers should be Internet Browser. If not, highlight it, press the Menu button and select the Change option to Internet Browser.

Follow the steps below so you do not default to an alternative supplier:

  1. Select Options > Advanced Options > Service Books. A list of what looks like web addresses is displayed.
  2. If Vodafone, VF, Vodafone live or VF live is displayed, highlight them, press the Menu button and select delete.

How to set up email accounts on your handset:

  1. Select the Browser icon. A list of pages is displayed, i.e. Blackberry help, Google, Facebook.
  2. Press the Menu button.
  3. Select the Go To option.
  4. In the displayed field, enter bt.blackberry.com. One of two options is displayed, depending on whether the account has been accessed from a computer previously, Create a New User or T’s&C’s.
  5. If Create a New User is displayed, enter your username and a password. The T’s&C‘s are then displayed.
  6. Agree to the terms and conditions.
  7. You are asked to add an email address. If you are adding an existing address, just enter the email address and the password you use for that account.

If you are adding a new email address, a bt.blackberry.com email account will be created.
  8. One of two messages is displayed:

    • Your account has been successfully validated
    • It was unsuccessful and there is an error with your address or password

Check your address and password, get your outgoing server address from your email provider and then try to add again using the option to add the server address.
