What should I do if I suspect identity theft is taking place on my PC?
To protect your PC from identity theft and viruses, there are several things you can do:
- BT PC Security can check and remove any known viruses that are on your PC before being installed onto your computer. For more information on how to purchase this software from BT, please see BT PC Security.
- You can use one of McAfee’s free tools to remove a virus from your PC. To access these free tools, please see McAfee’s Virus Removal Tools. However, please note that these will not give you continuous protection against viruses. To continuously protect your PC against new threats, you are advised to use BT PC Security or a similar comprehensive security suite.
- After you have updated and run the antivirus software, change any account/email passwords to ensure they're not fraudulently used.
- If you would like support on virus protection, please contact IT Support Manager for PCs and we can safely remove the virus for you.
