How can I keep my passwords secure?
Here are some tips to keep your PC and Internet passwords secure:
- Change your password from time to time.
- Avoid using the same password for everything you do.
- Try to avoid using real words, for instance by inserting some numbers into your password.
One way to create a password that’s easy for you to remember and hard for others to guess is to use a mnemonic. Think of a short phrase that's very well known to you and use the first letter of each word in the sentence as your password. This will usually result in something unpronounceable that's not in any dictionary, so would be hard for others to guess. If you really need to write the phrase down somewhere, at least it may not be so obvious to others that it's a password.
