Windows 7
If you are having problems viewing web pages, it may be a DNS issue. The DNS (Domain Name System) allows the web addresses you enter into your browser to be resolved to pages on the public Internet. If the DNS server addresses being used are ineffective, web browsing is effectively disabled.
To specify DNS addresses in Vista / Windows 7:
- Click on the Windows Start button and select Control Panel
- Click Network and Sharing Centre (in category view you will need to click Network and Internet first)
- Click Manage Network Connections (Vista) or Change Adapter Settings (Windows 7)
- Right-click on your broadband connection and select Properties from the pop-up menu
- Click on the Networking Tab (if necessary)
- In the "This connection uses the following items dialog", click on the TCP/IPv4 component to highlight it
- Click on the Properties button
- Click on the Use the following DNS server addresses radio button and enter the IP addresses of the Primary and Secondary DNS servers.
Note: The addresses must be geographically separate pairs. 9. Once you have entered the addresses, click on the OK button to close the TCP/IP Properties dialog and the OK button to close the Connection Properties dialog.
