How do I connect my email to my iPhone/iPad?
Note: These settings are only compatible if you have not been upgraded to the new email platform. If you have been upgraded please see, How do I connect my btconnect email to my iPhone/iPad?
You can set up your iPhone or iPad to send and receive emails from your btconnect account by changing a few settings.
If you want to synchronise your sent items, inbox and contacts you'll need to set up Business email
To send and receive btconnect email to your iPhone, follow these instructions.
- Go to your iPhone/iPad home screen.
- Click Settings.
- Click Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
- Click Add Account....
- Click Other.
- Click Add Mail Account.
- Enter your account details:
- put the name you want people to see when they get mail from you in the Name field
- in the Address field, enter your username in the format of a btconnect email address, for example firstname.lastname@btconnect.com
- enter your btconnect password in the Password field
- enter anything you like in the Description field to identify the account
- Click Save.
- Scroll to the to the top of the page and select POP
- Scroll down to the Incoming Mail Server section
- Enter pop3.btconnect.com in the Host Name section.
- In the Username field, enter your username in the format of a btconnect email address, for example firstname.lastname@btconnect.com
- Enter your password in the Password field.
- Scroll down to the Outgoing Mail Server section.
- Enter mail.btconnect.com in the Host Name section.
- In the Username field, enter your username in the format of a btconnect email address, for example firstname.lastname@btconnect.com
- Enter your password in the Password field.
- Click Save. You may have to wait a few minutes while the iPhone tries to connect.
- The iPhone will display the message stating that it cannot connect using SSL. Select Yes.
- You may have to wait a few minutes while your iPhone connects.
You should now be able to send and receive mail from your btconnect email account on your iPhone.
If you get an error message that says: 'SMTP Server mail.bt.com doesn't support authentication, please check your account settings and try again', contact your phone provider.
