How can I make amendments to the Call Barring tables and bar premium rate numbers from all extensions?

In order to implement call barring, an extension should have a Class of Service (CLS) of Toll Denied (TLD). Then any outgoing call will be referred to the Flexible Code Restriction tables.

The NCOS value assigned to the extension TN relates directly to the table number. This is the CRNO, the code restriction tree number.

For example NCOS 1 refers to CRNO 1 and NCOS 5 refers to CRNO 5.

The call barring tables are printed and changed using overlay LD 49.

Note 1: Users of OTM and Telephony Manager will have to access LD 49. Access the system using the terminal window to make these changes.

Using LD 49

REQ PRT

CUST 0
CRNO   Enter the table number. A carriage return will result in all tables being printed.

Example 1

CRNO 2
INIT ALOW
DENY 1
ALOW   118
DENY 0
ALOW 0345
0800

This initially allows any number to be dialled.

  • Numbers beginning with 1 are denied except numbers beginning 118.
  • All numbers starting with 0 are denied. The exceptions are 0345 and 0800 which are allowed.
  • There isn't a need to add 09 to this table as this number is already restricted by the DENY 0 entry.

Example 2

CRNO 3
INIT ALOW
DENY 1
ALOW   112
152
154
150
192
100
DENY 010
0338
08364
0839
0881
0898
00

Any number is initially allowed (INIT ALOW)

  • Those beginning 1 are denied (DENY 1) with a list of exceptions following. (ALOW 112, 152, 154 and so on.)
  • Finally a list of numbers that are denied follows.
  • Numbers beginning 09 will be allowed because 09 isn't in the DENY list and a general restriction on 0 doesn't exist either. To deny 09, it needs to be added to the DENY list.
  • Sometimes a 09 premium rate number is used to provide service for a franking machine. This individual number can be added as an exception.
  • The sequence of entering the data follows.

Note 2: The following prompts occur when changing the data. ALOW, DENY, UPDT and BYPS:

  • Numbers can be entered against ALOW or DENY.
  • Pressing the return key toggles ALOW to DENY or DENY to ALOW.
  • If a number is already in the ALOW table and you want to remove it. Enter the number against the DENY prompt and it will be removed from that table.
  • Similarly, if it is a number already in the DENY table it will be removed from that table if entered against the ALOW prompt.

A number cannot exist in an ALOW list and a DENY list at the same time so the entry is cancelled out.)
  • UPDT means update this entry. Answer YES (or press the return key) to update or NO to cancel the entry.
  • BYPS Press the return key.

Note 3: If you encounter the FRCE prompt you must enter YES or NO in order to move on:

  • YES will accept and force the change but may delete some portions of the barring table.
  • NO will leave the data intact and ignore your previous programming entry. This is just a safeguard to verify that you have entered the correct digits.
