How do I empty my Internet caching or cookies?

Note: Please ensure that you have a record of any user names and passwords you may have instructed your computer to remember, or tick the option to keep your user names and passwords if available. 

To empty your Internet caching or cookies:

  1. Open your Internet browser.
  2. From the Tools menu, select Internet Options to display the Internet Options dialog.
  3. Select the General tab.
  4. Select the Delete Files button to display the Delete Files dialog.
  5. Tick the Delete all offline content box, then click OK.
  6. Click the OK button to close all of the open dialogs.

Your screen instructions my differ slightly as this depends on your browser and which version of windows and  you are using.

To make sure your browser is not closing your connection:

  1. Open your Internet browser.
  2. From the Tools menu, select Internet Options to display the Internet Options dialog.
  3. Select the Connections tab.
  4. Highlight the name of the connection you are using.
  5. Select the Settings button to display the Settings dialog.
  6. Select the Advanced button.
  7. Make sure the Disconnect if idle box is unchecked.
  8. Make sure the Disconnect when connection may no longer be needed box is unchecked.
  9. Select the OK button to close all of the open dialogs.

If you use Microsoft Outlook, it may be set to disable the connection after mail has been sent and received. To check this, look at the Mail Setup tab in the Tools menu.
