How do I change the button programming on my extension?

The buttons on your telephone can be programmed with Internal extension numbers, external telephone numbers or features, these may be changed depending on what they are currently programmed to do.

The buttons can be programmed from the actual telephone in the following way, with the handset on the rest and the phone free of calls:

To program External extension numbers:

  1. Press Feature * 1.
  2. Press the button to be programmed.
  3. Enter the external number.

To program Internal extension numbers:

  1. Press Feature * 2.
  2. Press the button to be programmed.
  3. Enter the extension number.

To program a Feature:

  1. Press Feature * 3.
  2. Press the button to be programmed.
  3. Press the feature button followed by the feature code.
    e.g. Speed Dial = Feature 0.

To program the button using Element manager:

  1. Open Element Manager, in the Task Navigation Panel.
  2. Click the Configuration tab.
  3. Extend Telephony, extend Sets and click on Active Sets.
  4. Click on the Capabilities tab at the top of the Active sets window.
  5. You will see a list of all the working extensions on your system.
  6. Click on the extension (DN) you want to change.
  7. Click on the Button programming tab in the bottom window.
  8. You should see a picture of that extensions telephone, if you mouse over the button you can see what the button is currently programmed to do, double click on the button to change the setting (approx 5 sec delay).

Note:- If the text is greyed out the button cannot be changed in Button programming, e.g. Handsfree, Intercom, these buttons are programmed elsewhere in Element Manager.
