How can I withhold my number?

Withheld number stops your phone number from being forwarded to the person you're calling. You can do this either for individual calls or on a permanent basis.

To use this service, follow the steps below - if you're ex-directory your phone number will still be forwarded, so these steps maybe be useful:

  • To permanently withhold your number contact your BT Account Manager, if you have one, or contact us.
  • To withhold your number on individual calls dial 141 followed by the phone number of the person you want to call.
The person you're calling will not receive your phone number - they'll get 'number withheld'.
  • If your number is permanently withheld and you want to forward it dial 1470 followed by the phone number of the person you want to call.
The person you're calling will receive your phone number.
