Personalising domain names and email addresses
Note: This feature is available to primary users only. Primary users can set up email aliases for secondary users.
If you own a domain name hosted by BT, you can use it to create personalised email addresses or ‘email aliases’. To find out more about email aliases, see What is an email alias?
If you own a domain name which is hosted by another provider, you need to contact the third party host in order to set up personalised email addresses. If you do not own a domain name and would like to purchase one, see How do I order a domain name?
To create a personalised email address (email alias):
- Choose which @btconnect email address the alias is to be linked to. If you wish to create a new email address for the email alias to be linked to, see Creating an email address for a new user.
- Log in to Your account with your primary usernameand password.
- Click on the Manage services link under the tabbed navigation at the top of the page.
The Manage Services page is displayed:

- In the Email section, click on the Manage email aliases link:

The Manage email aliases page is displayed:

- Click on the Add alias button.
The Add new email alias page is displayed:

- In the Email alias field, enter the alias for your domain name.
- From the Domain name drop-down list, choose the required domain name.
- From the Email address to receive messages drop-down list, choose your associated @btconnect.com address.
- Click on the Continue button.
A message is displayed, indicating that the email alias has been created. - You now have the option to change the ‘sent from’ address for the @btconnect.com address associated with your new alias. This will make any emails you send appear as though they have come from your personalised email address (alias). For further information, see How to personalise the default ‘sent from’ email address.
Your personalised email address is set up and linked to your @btconnect.com email address. Emails sent to your personalised email address will arrive in your @btconnect.com inbox. If you completed step 9, any emails sent from this account will show up as having been sent from your personalised email address (alias), not your @btconnect.com address.
