The Payment Processing Fee for bills not paid by Direct Debit now applies to BT Onebills.
What is the Payment Processing Fee?
The Payment Processing Fee* is a charge for customers who do not pay their bills by Direct Debit.
It does not apply to initial, supplementary, and final bills.
The fee is £6 a month for each bill (or £18 a quarter, if you pay quarterly).
It will appear in the ‘Payment Charges’ section of the bill.
Is the Payment Processing Fee different to the Paper Bill Fee?
Yes, we charge the Paper Bill Fee to customers who continue to receive paper bills. So if you don't pay by Direct Debit and you continue to have paper bills, you'll see both charges appear on your bill.
Why are you introducing a Payment Processing Fee to BT Onebill customers?
We've been applying a Payment Processing Fee to some bills for many years if they've not been paid by Direct Debit.
Recently, we've been looking at the costs of processing non-Direct Debit payments for BT Onebill customers. As this cost isn't coming down, we've decided to introduce the fee to BT OneBills, too.
How can I reduce the number of Payment Processing Fees I pay if I don't want to change to Direct Debit?
If you don't want to change the way you pay to Direct Debit and you have more than one bill, you can consolidate them into a BT OneBill. This means we'll only apply the Payment Processing Fee to the BT OneBill, not each individual bill.
If you like the sound of this, call us on 0845 600 6156 (when prompted, just say 'Billing') and we'll be happy to sort it for you.
*Exclusions apply. The BT Price List contains the full details (take a look at section 15).
