What do the lights on my BT Business Hub 5 mean?

The lights on the BT Business Hub 5 work in a different way to our previous Hubs. The central light is the Power light. When it’s steady blue, it means not only that the Hub is powered up, but that everything else is OK too – broadband is connected and your wireless signal is switched on.

The Broadband and Wireless icon lights only come on if there is a problem, or as a warning - for example, if wireless is switched off.

Hub start-up light sequence

Power light is red

A red power light means the Hub has failed to start-up properly.

  • Switch the Hub off then back on again using the Power button on the back. Wait a couple of minutes for the lights to settle. if the central power light is now blue, all is OK
  • If the power light is still red, try resetting the Hub to it's factory settings
  • Wait a few minutes for the hub to start up and the lights to settle. If the power light is blue, everything's OK. if it's still red then there may be something wrong with your hub. Please Contact Us.

Power light is orange

If there's a problem connecting to broadband, the power light will stay orange after start-up has finished and the broadband light will remain on. See below for what the status of the broadband light means.
