Can I have a single Calling Line ID for my Site?

With Group Calling Line ID you can show a single Calling Line Identity (CLI) to your outbound calls (which will override your actual CLI, if that's what you want). You can also set it so it shows a single CLI for people on your site who only have extension numbers (so they don't have their own public, or Direct Dial Inbound, numbers).

You are not able to set it up for just some people and not others; it's either on for everyone or it's not. The only exception is for extension-only users.

If you've blocked the CLI on your line, the Group Calling Line ID will also be blocked.

The Group Calling Line ID has two components:

  • Name – this is the name of the Site (15 characters or less) and is for on-net calls only
  • Number – one of your site phone numbers, which your administrator must have assigned to either a user or a feature (a hunt group or a Site Auto Attendant, for example)  

 

How do I set it up?

From the BT Cloud Voice portal

  1. Select ‘Site Feature Settings’
  2. Select ‘Group Calling Line ID’

    To set up the Group Calling Line ID for all Users on a Site
    • Check the ‘Display site phone number instead of employees as the outbound caller ID’ check box


    To set up the Group Calling Line ID for extension-only Users on a Site
    • Do not check the ‘Display site phone number instead of employees as the outbound caller ID’ check box

  3. Select the public phone number that will be the Calling Line ID for all outgoing calls for all Users, or only for extension-only Users on the Site from the numbers in the drop down
    • The number you select is the number that people you call will see on their caller display

    For on-net calls only
    • Check the ‘Display site name instead of employees as the outgoing caller ID name’ check box to display user's names to people you’re calling on net calls
    • Type a name, (up to 15 characters), in the ‘Display Site Name’ field to display to people you're calling on net calls

  4. Click ‘Save’
