How can I point my domain name at my own web server?
If you're running your own web server you can point your BT Business Connect hosted domain name to it via the Domain Maintenance page.
Simply follow these steps:
- Log in to Manage Services (you will need to log in as the Primary User of the Account).
- Click on Manage your domain names. You will be taken to the BT Domain Centre area.
- Click on the Maintenance tab and choose the domain name you wish to alter (all of your BT Business Domain Names will be listed here).
- Select 'A' from the first drop down.
- Add 'www' as the key.
- Enter the IP address of your webserver as the value.
- Select the Delete option on your existing 'www' and 'ftp' settings.
- Click Go to finalise the change.
In the example illustrated below all web browsers who search for the website www.btwebsitecreator.com will be automatically directed to the IP address entered for the value.

DNS changes made to your domain undergo a short propagation period. We'll send an email to your Primary User address confirming your changes.
Note: incorrect DNS settings can result in the complete loss of email or your website.
