How do I transfer my domain away from BT Business?

We’re sorry you want to transfer your domain name away from BT Business - but you’re always welcome back.

Things you need to know about transferring a domain name

Unfortunately, if you transfer a primary domain away from BT, we won’t be able to supply the hosting package for that domain.

You’ll need to give us your new host’s IPS tag if you want to transfer a domain name that ends:

• .co.uk 
• .org.uk 
• .ltd.uk

Because of domain name regulations, you can only transfer .com, .net, .biz or .org domains away from BT Business if they’ve been registered with us for at least 60 days.

To transfer your domain away from BT Business:

1. Go to Your Account 
2. Click on Manage services 
3. In the Domains section, click on the Transfer a domain to BT link 
4. The BT Domains Centre page is displayed. Click on the Transfer away link on the left-hand side 
5. Enter your domain details 
6. Click on the transfer button

We’ll send you an email once we’ve processed your request. This may take a few days.

Note: Once your domain transfer has been processed the domain name will be removed from our mail platform and will become the responsibility of the new host. This may cause some disruption to your email during the transfer process.
