How do I transfer my domain to BT Business?
If you’ve got a domain registered with another company and you want to transfer it to BT Business, you can do so in a few simple steps.
If your domain name ends with .com, .net, .biz, .info or .org you’ll need an authorisation code called an AuthInfo Code from your domain supplier before you transfer.
If your domain name ends with .com, .net, .biz, .info or .org:
- get an authorisation code from your supplier
- go to Your Account
- click on Manage services
- in the Domains section, click on Transfer a domain to BT
- the BT Domains Centre, Transfer in page is displayed
- in the AuthInfo field, enter the AuthInfo code
- click on the transfer button
Our system adds the domain to your account, so you can set up aliases and activate hosting.
We’ll send you an email when your transfer is completed.
If your domain name ends with .uk:
- go to Your Account
- click on Manage services
- in the Domains section, click on Transfer a domain to BT
- the BT Domains Centre, Transfer in page is displayed
- in the Domain name field, enter the name of your domain
- click on the transfer button
- Contact your supplier and ask for the IPS tag to be changed to BTNAMES.
As soon as this is done, our system adds the domain to your account, so you can set up aliases and activate hosting.
We’ll send you an email when your transfer is completed.
The company your domain is registered with may also send you an email asking you to confirm the transfer.
Do I have to pay to transfer a domain name?
Not if you’re eligible for free domain names. If you’re not, we’ll ask you to pay by credit or debit card.
