When do I need to tell you that I've paid my bill?
If we don't receive payment for your bill by the 'pay by date' (which we include in the bill details), then we'll send you an email reminder (if you manage your bills online) or a paper reminder in the post. This is what we used to call the 'red reminder'.
If you don't pay your bill until you get this reminder, you need to call us once you've paid to make sure that we don't accidentally put a late payment charge on your next bill. This is because it takes a few days for your payment to reach us and register against your account, even with online payments.
If you need to tell us you've paid your bill, go to the Tell us you've paid page now to fill out a web form. If you're telling us about your landline bill, you don't need to sign in to BT.com but, if you want to tell us about a broadband bill, you will need to.
You'll need to know:
- The telephone number for which you've paid the bill
- The account number
- Whether you've paid all or part of the bill
- The date you paid it
