You have two options for retrieving your backed up data. You can either retrieve it directly from BT PC Backup or you can use the Account Management website.

Retrieving backed up data using BT PC Backup

You can retrieve your backed up data from your computer with BT PC Backup installed.

To retrieve your backed up data:

  1. Open BT PC Backup.
  2. Click on the Retrieve tab.

  3. If prompted, enter your account password.
  4. Find the files and folder that you want to retrieve by doing any of the following:

    • From the Show Versions list, select to display the backed up files or folders you require:

      • Most Recent files

        Select this option to display your most recently backed up files or folders.
      • As of Backup Date

        Select this option to display files or folders backed up on a specific date.
      • All

        Select this option to displayed all versions of your backed up files or folders.
    • Click on the Find button to display the Find File or Folder panel:

      In the Name contains field, enter all or part of the name of the file or folder you require and click on the Find Next button. Where more than one file or folder matches the search text entered, use the Find Next and Find Previous buttons to find the file or folder required.
    • Click on the Browse button to browse for a file or folder.

      Note:

      Only folders containing backed up files are displayed.

      To view the content of a folder in full, either select the folder in the left panel or double-click the folder in the right panel. The folder’s content is displayed in the right panel.
  5. Check the box next to each folder or file that you want to retrieve.
  6. Click on the Retrieve button to display the Retrieve options dialog:

  7. If you want to save the retrieved files and folders to a specific location, select Save all files in folder and either enter the location’s path in the field provided or click on the Browse button to navigate to the location that you require.

    If you want to keep the original folder structure of the retrieved files and folders, check the Maintain original folder structure box.

    Alternatively, if you want to save the retrieved files and folders to their original location, select Save files in their original locations.

    If you select to save retrieved files and folders to their original location and want to overwrite the existing files and folders on your computer, select Overwrite the files currently on my computer.
  8. Click on the Retrieve button to start the retrieve process. The selected files are retrieved and saved to the location that you specified.

Retrieving backed up data using the Account Management website

If you are working from a remote location or do not have access to your computer, for example, if it has been lost, stolen or is broken, you can use the Account Management website to retrieve your backed up data in a ZIP archive file.

To retrieve your backed up data:

  1. Log in to the Account Management website using your email address and password.

  2. If you have multiple accounts registered to you, a list of your accounts is displayed. Select the account that you require.
  3. Click on the Retrieve Files with MyRoam link to display the Retrieve File with MyRoam page:

  4. Find the files and folder that you want to retrieve by doing any of the following:

    • From the Show Versions list, select to display the backed up files or folders you require:

      • Most Recent files

        Select this option to display your most recently backed up files or folders.
      • As of Backup Date

        Select this option to display files or folders backed up on a specific date.
      • All

        Select this option to displayed all versions of your backed up files or folders.
    • Click on the Find button to display the Find File or Folder panel in the Retrieve File with MyRoam page:

      In the Name contains field, enter all or part of the name of the file or folder you require and click on the Find Next button. Where more than one file or folder matches the search text entered, use the Find Next and Find Previous buttons to find the file or folder required.
    • Click on the Browse button to browse for a file or folder.

  5. Check the box next to each folder or file that you want to retrieve.
  6. Click on the Retrieve button. MyRoam calculates the total size of the selected files that you want to retrieve along with an estimated download time:

  7. Click on the Continue button to start the retrieve process. Once the process is complete, the following page is displayed:

  8. Click on the Download button to display the File Download dialog:

  9. Click on the Save button to display the Save As dialog.
  10. Specify a location for the ZIP archive file.
  11. Click on the Save button. Once the ZIP archive file have been saved to the location you specified, you can extract its contents.
