How do I download and install BT PC Backup?

When you place an order for BT PC Backup, an email is sent to your BT Connect account’s primary user  email address to confirm the order and to advise you how to download and install BT PC Backup on your computer.

To download and install BT PC Backup:

  1. Log into My BT Business account
  2. Click on the Manage services link at the top of the page. The Manage services page is displayed:

  3. Do one of the following:

    • In the Alert section, click on the activate your BT PC Backup product(s) link:

    • In the BT PC Backup section, click on the Activate your BT PC Backup product(s) link:

    The Download and activate your BT PC Backup Product(s) page is displayed:

  4. Click on the Download link. A File Download - Security Warning dialog is displayed:

  5. Click on the Run button to start the download. Once the download is complete, the installation program automatically starts and the Welcome dialog is displayed, showing your BT PC Backup account number which you should make a note of for future reference:

    Note:

    If the installation program does not automatically start, the Download Complete dialog is displayed. Click on the Open button to start the installation program.
  6. Click on the Next button to display the Install Options dialog:

  7. If you want to install BT PC Backup to a different folder to the default indicated, either enter the new location’s path in the Install Folder field or click on the Browse button to navigate to the location that you require.
  8. Click on the Next button to start the installation. Once the installation is complete, the Installation Complete dialog is displayed:

  9. Click on the Finish button to close the Installation Complete dialog and to automatically open BT PC Backup. As this is the first time you have opened BT PC Backup, the Enter Password dialog is displayed:

  10. In the Password field, enter your account password. This is the primary user password for your BT Connect account.

    Note:

    We recommend that you change your password after the first backup has been completed.
  11. Click on the OK button. The following dialog is displayed while your account and password are validated:

    Once the validation is complete, the Welcome to the Agent dialog is displayed, advising that BT PC Backup has identified and selected files that should be backed up from your computer:

  12. Click on the Close button to display the BT PC Backup Agent dialog.
  13. Click on the Backup Set tab to view the files and folders selected by BT PC Backup for the first backup:

    If required, you can change the backup set by adding or removing files and folders.
  14. Click on the Backup Now button to start the backup. The Backing Up dialog is displayed, showing the progress of the backup:

    The first backup may take a some time to complete, depending upon the number of files and total capacity of the data being backed up. Subsequent backups are incremental, which only backup the changes to your files and therefore will be much quicker. Automatic backups will only occur when you are connected to the Internet.
