How do I configure my fax machine for use with my VoIP line?

BT does not support third party fax machines. However, there are settings which have proven to work in many cases:

Set the baud rate to no greater than 14.4KB/s.
Disable v.34.
Disable error correction.
Disable JPEG compression.
Adjust the transmission level.
Update your fax machine’s firmware.

If you use the BT Voyager 2700 router, you need to change the settings in the Configuration Manager:

Open a Web browser.
In the address bar, enter 192.168.1.254.
Click on the Go button or press the ENTER key.
Select Voice Network.
Change bandwidth setting for the VoIP line to Faxes.
