How do I configure my fax machine for use with my VoIP line?
BT does not support third party fax machines. However, there are settings which have proven to work in many cases:
- Set the baud rate to no greater than 14.4KB/s.
- Disable v.34.
- Disable error correction.
- Disable JPEG compression.
- Adjust the transmission level.
- Update your fax machine’s firmware.
If you use the BT Voyager 2700 router, you need to change the settings in the Configuration Manager:
- Open a Web browser.
- In the address bar, enter 192.168.1.254.
- Click on the Go button or press the ENTER key.
- Select Voice Network.
- Change bandwidth setting for the VoIP line to Faxes.
