Before you start, ensure that you are in range of an office wi-fi network.

Notes:

  • Your laptop needs to be wi-fi enabled. Please ensure that if using a wi-fi card, it is inserted and switched on.
  • If you are in the office and a connection to BT Wi-fi is available, you can connect to the Wi-fi network instead. For further information on how to do this, please see Connecting to the BT Wi-fi network.

To connect to an office wi-fi network:

  1. Open BT Access Manager.
  2. Click on the Office icon button.
  3. Click on the Office Wi-Fi icon button.
  4. Click on the button in the centre of the main BT Access Manager dialog:

  5. Select the wi-fi network that you want to use.
  6. Click on the OK button.
  7. BT Access Manager may prompt you to confirm the wi-fi settings required to connect to the selected network.

    If your home wi-fi network has WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) encryption enabled:

    1. From the Wi-Fi Encryption Mode list, select WEP.
    2. From the Wi-Fi Authentication Mode list, select Open or Shared, depending on the configuration of network to which you are connecting.
    3. Click on the OK button.
    4. In the Wi-Fi WEP Key field, enter the home wi-fi network's WEP key.

    If your home wi-fi network has WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access) encryption enabled:

    1. From the Wi-Fi Encryption Mode list, select WPA.
    2. From the Wi-Fi Authentication Mode list, select PSK.
    3. Click on the OK button.
    4. In the WEP/WPA Passphrase field, enter the WPA passphrase associated with the network to which you want to connect.
  8. Click on the OK button. The office wi-fi connection is complete. The main BT Access Manager dialog indicates that the application is connected to the selected network, the amount of time connected and the current connection status.
  9. When you have finished with the connection, click on the Disconnect button.
