Connecting to the BT Wi-fi network with BT Access Manager

When in a BT Wi-fi or roaming partner hotspot , you can connect using BT Wi-fi.

Your laptop needs to be wi-fi enabled. Please ensure that if using a wi-fi card, it is inserted and switched on.

To connect to the BT Wi-fi network:

  1. Open BT Access Manager .
  2. Click on the On the move iconbutton.
  3. Click on the BT Wi-fi iconbutton.
  4. Click on the button in the centre of the main BT Access Manager dialog:

    Central button
  5. If you are using BT Access Manager to connect to BT Wi-fi for the first time, you are prompted to enter your BT Wi-fi username and password:

    Log-in dialog box

If you are using BT Wi-fi for the first time, BT recommends that you change your password from the one supplied. For further information, please see Changing your password .

If you have used BT Access Manager to connect to BT Wi-fi before, your username and password are automatically saved.

If you are using a BT Wi-fi roaming partner, for example, a Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA) partner, with no automatic login, you are asked to log in manually:

Web page Gateway Log-in dialog box
  6. Click on the OK button. BT Access Manager launches a browser so that you can log in to the network. Once you have logged in, close the browser and return to BT Access Manager.
  7. Click on the OK button to confirm that you have logged in. The home wi-fi connection is complete. The main BT Access Manager dialog indicates that the application is connected to the selected network, the amount of time connected and the current connection status.
  8. When you have finished with the connection, click on the Disconnect button. This prevents your BT Wi-fi session from timing out and an additional 15 minutes' use being charged.
